Happy New Year

Thank you to all of our wonderful customers, fans and followers for making our first month an amazing month. It’s been a really fun ride. I’m looking forward to an amazing 2012 and hope that you are all excited for what is to come, grilled cheese wise that is.

Hopefully no one is too disappointed, but we are closed for both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. I look forward to seeing everyone in the week’s to come.

Our Little Chrismukkah Party

Last night was our first annual company Chrismukkah party. All we know is grilled cheese, so we decided to make it a grilled cheese off. With a couple of great prizes on the line we all competed to see who could make the best grilled cheese. There were two categories, Menu Appropriate and Epic. The next few posts will be a photo-log of sorts of some of the entries from last night. All of the creations tasted great, some were spectacular. So hopefully the pics do them justice.

The Joe Carter Cheesesteak

This grilled cheese is steeped in lore, with a winning pedigree second to none. It is made with great flavour and cheesy goodness in mind. The main ingredients; chipotle marinated steak, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, provolone and mozzarella cheeses all on 100% red fife Sourdough bread. It packs a gooey punch, and with the cheesesteak sauce as a side dipper, you’re going to want seconds before you’re done the first.

We have Matt to thank for this one, and I’m pretty sure everyone will be happy with his choice. And the question that I’m sure everyone is asking themselves: why is it called the Joe Carter Cheesesteak. Well come on people, if you’re a true Torontonian, you’ll know it’s because he sure beats Philly!

Interim Special

Matt has chosen his special and I know it’s going to be a good one. Now we’re just waiting for the product to come in. I’m expecting that it will be unveiled tomorrow. But that means we need something to be the special today. I think we’ve chosen a good interim special this week. It’s pretty simple, just provolone, salami, red onions and BBQ sauce, but it’s big on flavour and it can get a bit messy. So hopefully this will tide those people over who are anxiously awaiting the special from Matt.

The Cha Cha Cha Gone but Not Forgotten

We just ran out of The Cha Cha Cha. It had a really good run of it, as in the end it has definitely been our best selling special. I have Sara to thank for that. She came up with a great idea for a special and a fun name to match. Although to be fair, we have her lovely daughter to thank for the name.

There is no time though to lament the loss of The Cha Cha Cha, we have to move on. And move on we will. Matt was the lucky guy to get the last one, so he will be entrusted to come up with the next idea. I’m confident that he will do a great job, but only time will tell if it will be able to live up to the excitement that The Cha Cha Cha generated. It’s a tough job to be sure, that is why Matt, like all of our special creators, will get to eat his special for free. Because the brain is a muscle like any other in the body, and it needs sustenance.

The Cha Cha Cha Countdown Begins

So far the Cha Cha Cha has had a really good run of it. Today will be its 7th day as our special, and it has been our best selling special. It really showed The Godfrey and The Sheeva how things are done. But like all things it has to come to an end.

As far as I can tell from the ingredients we have in stock, we will run out of The Cha Cha Cha at some point today or tomorrow. Right now it looks like we have approximately 17 portions worth. So as I have been doing I’ll start to tweet out a countdown so you can try to make it in for the last one.

For those of you who don’t know, I’ll throw in a little reminder here as to why you would want to order the last Cha Cha Cha. The last person to order the special gets to pick the next one. Not only that, but they get their special for free for as long as it runs. I think that’s a pretty good reason to make sure you get the last one. Well, keep checking back for updates.
